Restorative Circles: Conflict Solving within Groups*

Done in conjunction with Restorative Resources Santa Cruz

Would you like a conflict resolution process for your group, organization, family, or community that can be successfully applied without outside "experts"? Restorative Circles can be used with families, businesses, non-profits, schools, churches, the justice system, or with any group where relationships have suffered because of a specific event or act.

On Saturday, February 5th, Todd Phillips, Jennifer Young, and Christine King will be offering an all day workshop on the principles and processes of Restorative Circles. We are excited to be spending the day with those in our community that would enjoy learning about and experiencing the power of this restorative process.

The Restorative Circle process developed by NVC Trainer Dominic Barter is an extension of what has been a part of our heritage for centuries and what was used by indigenous cultures to restore balance and wholeness to their tribes. It's worth noting that this practice has recently received an international award for it's 'radical efficiency' and it's ability to understand, respond to and rebuild the relationships that keep communities operating effectively"."

Restorative Circle work sets itself apart from mediation by supporting shared power equally by all who participate; the facilitator does the minimum guidance or re-framing needed to maintain a sense of support and safety. This in-house, pre-learned conflict resolution process supports the sustainability of the organization as a whole.

In this workshop, participants will have an opportunity to learn about restorative processes and practice a Restorative Justice Circle using real life situations. Organizations are encouraged to send representatives to experience this work firsthand.
