Kristin and Mika’s Facilitation Series

We all likely spend a lot of time focusing on what we’re gonna teach, or how to get thru an agenda.
These sessions will support you to think about the How:
- How we create and hold the space
- How we address tension and conflict
- How to balance structure cf. process, information cf. relational
- How to navigate our patterns of reactivity
- How to weigh the costs of our facilitating decisions
- How to mourn when things don’t go as planned and celebrate what works
Led by Kristin Masters and Mika Maniwa. We both come from the world of Nonviolent Communication and Anti-Racism Anti-Oppression work and have studied systemic constellations and relational neurobiology. We will use these lenses to shape content that we hope will be relevant to anyone currently or considering facilitating groups. (You don’t have to fluent in these lenses yourself, but we will use them to frame our approaches to the questions at hand.)

This series and each session is offered in the spirit of gift economy, with contributions/dana that support Kristin, Mika and their team for the teachings and care extended. Please consider giving both affordably and generously, considering your own needs and ours. Really, we mean it!
Kristin has created tickets for both single session and full series in Eventbrite (click here!) NOTE- We had to replace the past eventbrite event with a new one to allow sales of new session tickets! (click here!) For those who want suggestion for amount, you might consider that a sliding scale of $25-$75 per hour might give you a range of payment options. For for full series, 6 sessions, that range might be $300-$900. But these numbers are only for consideration, and I want each of you to be fully in choice about contribution and investment. If these tickets are not the amounts you wish to or can contribute, email Kristin@nvcsantacruz.org to propose what you can easily and generously pay with an expected timeline, and Kristin will add you manually. You will need to be registered in advance of each session you want to attend, so please handle this in advance so we can get you the info you need to join us.

NOTE: These sessions will be recorded. If you sign up for all 6 sessions you will have access to the recordings.
What’s gonna happen in all sessions:
Journaling, free-writing, role-plays, demos, initiating group dialogue – how to talk about what’s happening in the room, or what just happened, choosing what you name, common mistakes that facilitators might make that fan the fires or shut it down – power plays, dance between vulnerability and strategy / being and doing, sharing stories about facilitation gone sideways as well as moments of grace.
We’re bound to learn something from each other and laugh.
