From our earliest moments in this world we experience wave after wave of negative messages about who we are. The negativity is built into our culture and is based on our race, gender, class, and a host of other attributes like body type, intelligence, and moral virtue.
In this workshop we will learn how to put ourselves into the healing chair of self-empathy. We’ll have a front-row seat as our inner jackals perform their show. We’ll bask in the warmth of kindness towards ourselves, and draw on our native resilience that has been nurtured by those who have loved us along the way. In the process we’ll deepen our understanding of others who have learned negativity. This self-empathy process is the foundation of Nonviolent Communication, developed by Marshall Rosenberg.
This workshop is in two sessions. In the first session, Kadijah and Rick will demonstrate the self empathy process and invite participation. In the follow up session, there will be more time for participants to bring their own experiences, practicing self empathy in the presence of supportive coaching.
